Claire Côté

Claire has been a member of Effervescent Collective since its conception.  She directed Effervescent's stage rendition of Dirty Dancing.  Claire graduated from Goucher College in May 2009 with a B.A. in Anthropology/Sociology and Art minor.  She draws from these disciplines to inspire and influence dance movement.  Her anthropological interests lie particularly in immigration, globalization and post-colonialism.  Claire plans to receive her master's coleff9126degree in Choreography at the Cooperative Dance Education Center in Berlin, Germany this fall.  There, she hopes to combine her education in anthropology and dance to work with the Turkish immigrant community to create an anthropologically informed and collaboratively created dance piece that speaks to the themes of integration and alienation in Germany.  Aside from people and dance, Claire also enjoys photography, learning languages, traveling and eating delicious food.
