ROUND ROBIN 2012

2 January 2012

DEAR CREATORS,

Caroline Marcantoni and Effervescent Collective's Lily Susskind are assembling for the next Baltimore Experimental Dance ROUND ROBIN. This year we are focusing on pushing creators and the community towards even more wonderful work. We aim to create discourse about our movement work in order to focus and articulate our intentions to ourselves and others.

The format of the dances is the same; 3-7 minutes, multiple stages with moving/revolving audience, a variety of different performances, and a good old fashion, fun atmosphere. Here's some press coverage from last year. CITY PAPER and What Weekly.

What's new this year is the focus cultivating and refining dances-in-progress. The round robin is for experimenting; this is a chance for folks who've never made a dance before to give it a shot. Or for old hands to push their usual limits and do something new and challenging. Either way, having a supportive community for critical feedback helps a ton. In the spirit of upgrading and expanding dance in baltimore, this year all accepted acts will schedule a brainstorm session and a feedback session that will be facilitated by members of Effervescent Collective and Caroline Marcantoni. We are interested in facilitating discussions that help the artist generate their own answers and solutions to creative conundrums. The goal is to empower dance-makers to learn how to better critically review their own work, not to bombard them with opinions and suggestions.

Please submit an idea for the ROUND ROBIN to us By FRIDAY January 13th, 2012 including:

NAME OF PIECE
CHOREOGRAPHER(S)

Brainstorm/Feedback sessions will be held Sundays evenings at 8 pm starting Jan 15, 2012 l

Thank you for listening. We can't wait to see all the awesome things!

Sincerely,

Lily & Caroline
